Before coming to camp: • Prepare physically – get outside, walk, run, exercise somehow - it is much easier for your body to adjust to the summer heat if you spend time outside, and marching is exercise – so don’t think you can show up after a summer indoors and idle and not have a negative effect • Hydrate – start drinking water regularly before you get to camp, at least 3 glasses a day • Prepare mentally – start practicing and memorizing your music before arrival at camp – the marching band plays from memory and preparation as a group is much easier if each individual knows their part AT CAMP: -Enclosed shoes – tennis shoes are fine, flat soles are best (Toms, Chucks, Keds) but don’t go out and buy something new just to wear out on the dewy turf -Weather appropriate clothing – you may have to do layers as the Midwest weather can be unpredictable -Bring your music -Bring your instrument -Eat a light but healthy breakfast – something with some protein if possible -Bring your own water bottle – we have coolers of water available to you but we do not provide cups. -Drink the water! -Plan for lunch / snack – You have from 12-1pm for lunch the entirety of your camp period -AVOID – high sugar drinks, especially “energy” drinks – these can be very dangerous anyway – but you add in heat and you are increasing the chance for dehydration or nausea -The Band does have available some quick snacks for those who forgot, but not nearly enough for the entire band each day -Band Boosters will provide ice pops occasionally during camp As always check the calendar on the website www.beltonbands.com WE NEED YOUR HELP to canvass the Belton Community with informational flyers regarding the BSD Bond Election. Students, faculty, and parents will be meeting Friday from 3pm-5pm at the High School to canvass West Belton; this is the area just west of the school past the roundabout on the same side as the school. Saturday we will canvass 9am-11am, meeting at end of shopping center of the Belton Price Chopper to do the housing edition behind the shopping area. If you can give your time and support to the dissemination of this information, we would greatly appreciate your efforts!
DUE TO WEATHER FORECAST, WE HAVE DECIDED TO NOT MARCH IN THE PARADE TOMORROW! THANKS FOR BEING FLEXIBLE. I HOPE YOU STAY WARM AND SAFE THIS WEEKEND!
