Are concerts mandatory and/or for a grade?
Yes and yes. Performance is a valuable part of music education. In order to give the best performance it is crucial that every member of the group is present and contributing their part. In the event of a serious conflict of dates please contact Ms. Howard ASAP. Excuse notes will not be accepted after the concert unless in the event of an emergency.
What do students wear to concerts?
Black band polo tucked in with khaki pants and nice shoes. Belt if possible.

How often should my student practice?
This is different for every student. Every week students are assigned a specific set of goals- they should practice as much as it takes to proficiently play the exercises assigned. Typically a good routine looks like 20-30minutes, 3-4 times per week. Frequency is crucial!
Private lessons- help?
If you are interested in getting information about private lessons for your student please send me an email and I can recommend someone that best fits your students' needs. [email protected].
Can my student switch instruments?
No, unless the student takes private lessons on the new instrument before switching and can audition for Ms. Howard on the new instrument at the same level as the current grade curriculum. The exception is an instrument switch initiated by Miss Howard for musical purposes. Example: Clarinet to Bass Clarinet or Trumpet to French Horn.
